We keep things simple and use what we have found works best in our area for what we do on a normal basis.
Hive Tools . Queen Excluder . Smoker . EasyCheck
We do not stock many of the gadget type items that can be found in the catalogs and on many beekeeping supply websites, but we are a Mann Lake distributor, so we can get pretty much anything shipped in if needed.
The tools here are the main things we use on a regular basis, with the exception of queen excluders. Those are mainly for the large scale honey production hives, but since the internet says you need one, we have them. 😏
Visit the Ordering Process help page if needed.
Please Note: You only need to include your contact information once per order, not each time you add another item to the cart.
You have choices of wood coatings for the hive. Click or Tap the down arrow to view the options. Select the coating for the equipment, the classic white painted boxes or hot wax dipped, the for long term, low maintenance option for only a few dollars more.
Then select the total number of class seats to have with the kit order.
The image shows a screen shot samples of how the choices are presented for you to select from - opens when you tap or click on the top option's down arrow as shown.

Genetic option availability is dependent in part on the time of the year and what we have access to in terms of availability from our favorite out-of-state Italian queen bee suppliers. We purchase the Italian queens from out of state from breeders, normally northern California or Hawaii when we want them earlier in the season than the weather in Cali allows for proper mating.
For our Texan lines, we have mating yards surrounded by hundreds of gentle drone mother donor hives to flood the DCAs (Drone Congregation Areas) with our preferred genetics. Using this practice is how we minimize the number of Africanized drones in the areas where our Texan queens go on mating flights and keep our lines from being overly aggressive.
However, this is mainly productive during the spring here in Texas when the colonies are raising a lot of drones. The other factor is proper weather for the queen to take her mating flights to the DCAs. Some years the window of opportunity for raising queens successfully stays open longer than other years.
