Genetic option availability is dependent in part on the time of the year and what we have access to in terms of availability from our favorite out-of-state Italian queen bee suppliers. We purchase the Italian queens from out of state from breeders, normally northern California or Hawaii when we want them earlier in the season than the weather in Cali allows for proper mating.
For our Texan lines, we have mating yards surrounded by hundreds of gentle drone mother donor hives to flood the DCAs (Drone Congregation Areas) with our preferred genetics. Using this practice is how we minimize the number of Africanized drones in the areas where our Texan queens go on mating flights and keep our lines from being overly aggressive.
However, this is mainly productive during the spring here in Texas when the colonies are raising a lot of drones. The other factor is proper weather for the queen to take her mating flights to the DCAs. Some years the window of opportunity for raising queens successfully stays open longer than other years.

We want you to be happy and successful in your beekeeping journeys, so we do our best to provide the best bees, supplies and information that we can. However, since we can not bee with everyone for every step of process, we can offer guidance and classes to help you establish a good foundation that you can build upon going forward.
We double check all Hives and Nucs prior to labeling them "ready for pick up". We have an experienced crew and rarely have issues, but we are human and prone to mistakes and of course bees are live animals and prone to change from one day to the next. Therefore we have the following policy and will replace or exchange a colony if we are notified of an issue right away. Please note that waiting more than a week to report an issue, is not considered right away.
Cancellation, Refund and Return Policy:
Honey bees are livestock, therefore they are subject to conditions and other factors that effect their health such as; diseases, pesticides, temperatures, etc. and since we have no control over the conditions the bees are subjected to once they leave our property, we can not be responsible for incidents or accidents after they leave our possession. For these reasons, you are more than welcome to do hive inspections before leaving our property. We will open each hive or nuc with you and show you the queen if you feel the need, but be aware that the hives are closed the night before so the bees are all contained and ready for pick up. Opening hives to inspect them before transporting to your location will result in several bees flying off the nest during inspection. Most folks that have bought from us before waive this option because they are confident the hives are fine and know that we stand behind our bees.
Should you decide to waive the pick up day inspection, we simply ask that you please report any issues within 72 hours of picking up your bees. We will be glad to review any issues and make corrections as needed. For anyone with a long way to travel, we prefer to check everything with you before you leave our property.
Since we must make all necessary arrangements and commitments to secure everything needed to fill orders, from equipment to reserving bees to securing queens from preferred out of state breeders, etc., we have the following cancellation policy:
Cancellation of Orders: All cancellations for refunds must be requested in writing (eMail) within seven (7) days from the time the order is placed. A 10% processing fee will be applied to all cancellation requests filled after the seventh day of the order and will be processed as time permits.
Returns for Supplies and Gear: If there is any issue with any equipment, supplies or gear, please let us know within seven (7) days of the receipt of the product and we will arrange for an exchange. All requests for a refund filled after this time are subject to a 10% restocking fee.
